Ocean-going shipping, which accounts for 99.6% of Japan’s trade, faces global competition. To
achieve both the efficiency and safe ship operations required in that context, work related to ocean
shipping has become more segmented and specialized. Companies responsible for their respective roles
(for example, companies that own ships, companies that manage ships, and companies that dispatch
crew members) have become operationally efficient through their specialized know-how and economies
of scale.
Since its founding in 1978, the Toei Group has been engaged in vessel-related work in Kobe, a port
that opened with the Meiji Restoration, and contributes to international trade as a professional
ship operation company. In the global industry of ocean-going shipping, we have continued to
earnestly and honestly deal with our customers and have built up a small amount of trust and
credibility through our local and on-the-spot approach.
The Toei Group will continue to play an active role in the maritime arena going forward and will
continue to be a “behind-the-scenes force” capable of contributing to people and society through its
marine transportation business.
